Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co has inducted Shaneen Parikh as Partner in its Dispute Resolution practice, with effect from August 17. Parikh joins from Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, where she headed the International Arbitration practice, and will be based at the firm's Mumbai office.
Her appointment brings to SAM one of the more internationally credentialed names at the Indian arbitration bar. Parikh is a dual-qualified Advocate in India and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, an Advocate-on-Record before the Supreme Court of India, and a registered foreign lawyer of the Singapore International Commercial Court. Her practice has taken her before tribunals seated in Singapore, London, New York, Geneva, Zurich, Dubai and across India, under the SIAC, ICC, LCIA, MCIA, DIAC and ICA Rules, as well as in ad hoc proceedings. She has advised on shareholder and post-M&A disputes, private equity exits, put-option and valuation disputes, ISDA-linked matters and structured finance claims, in addition to investor-State disputes.
Her institutional record is drawn along similarly wide lines. She sits on the Governing Board of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration and holds the office of Vice Chair at the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. She is a member of the Council of the Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration and an Ambassador of the Asia Pacific Arbitration Group of the International Bar Association. Between 2018 and 2022, she served on the Court of Arbitration of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, and was part of the expert committee that framed the proposed institutional arbitration rules for the International Arbitration Centre at GIFT City, Gujarat.
Parikh's decade at CAM as Partner and Head of International Arbitration followed close to twenty years at the erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas.
